Pot-grown Christmas trees

Pot-grown Christmas trees are a relatively new product, which is becoming increasingly popular. Pot-grown trees have minimal needle drop and can be planted in the garden after use. Seedlings are planted direct in the pot, which is then placed in the soil. After 4-6 years, trees are graded according to quality and height. The pots are then dug up, cleaned, and in some cases bagged, before the trees are netted and loaded onto lorries, either loose or packed on pallets or CC containers.

Pot-grown Nordmann fir
(Abies Nordmaniana)

With its dark green foliage and fantastic ability to keep its needles, Nordmann fir is by far the most popular pot-grown Christmas tree. Trees are available in 7, 10 and 12 litre pots in the following heights:

  • 40 - 60 cm
  • 60 - 80 cm
  • 80 - 100 cm
  • 100 - 125 cm
  • 125 - 150 cm
  • 150 - 175 cm

Pot-grown blue spruce
(Picea Pungens)

After Nordmann fir, this is the second most popular container-grown Christmas tree. With its distinctive blue foliage and well proportioned growth, blue spruce is the ideal choice if a relatively small tree is required. Trees are available in 3, 5, 7.5 and 10 litre pots in the following heights:

  • 40 - 60 cm
  • 60 - 80 cm
  • 80 - 100 cm
  • 100 - 125 cm
  • 125 - 150 cm
  • 150 - 175 cm

Pot-grown Norway spruce
(Picea Abies)

Pot-grown Norway spruce has an exceptional ability to fill in well after shearing, producing dense uniform trees. Trees are available in 5 and 7.5 litre pots in the following heights:

  • 40 - 60 cm
  • 60 - 80 cm
  • 80 - 100 cm
  • 100 - 125 cm
  • 125 - 150 cm
  • 150 - 175 cm
  • 175 - 200 cm

Pot-grown Serbian spruce
(Picea Omorica)

With its fine root system, Serbian spruce is ideal for pot-growing in heights of up to 2 metres. Trees are available in 5, 7.5 and 10 litre pots in the following heights:

  • 40 - 60 cm
  • 60 - 80 cm
  • 80 - 100 cm
  • 100 - 125 cm
  • 125 - 150 cm
  • 150 - 175 cm
  • 175 - 200 cm

Pot-grown Fraser fir
(Abies Frasari)

Fraser fir is relatively new in Europe. It is a slender tree with good needle-holding ability. Trees are available in 7.5 litre pots in the following heights:

  • 40 - 60 cm
  • 60 - 80 cm
  • 80 - 100 cm
  • 100 - 125 cm
  • 125 - 150 cm
